We have some new images up at Big Monkey Little Monkey … when clients ask what the kids should wear for a session .. this is were I send them, to be well taken care of and pretty styling when they leave ! .. I am so grateful to all the models from the shoot and all the moms and dads, they were all so awesome !
Lots happening at the studio these days ! .. We are happy to have Ali Hatch join the team, she is a co-op student from Centre Wellington and is awesome ! .. We will be photographing Ali as soon as the weather co-operates and we will be showcasing some of Ali’s work here too !
Mothers Day sessions are starting to book … if you are interested in having a session and being part of the gallery show at VanGalis please let us know. If you want to have a mothers day session and not be a part of the show that is an option as well ..
I have been asked a lot about workshops (non-pro) and I am working on putting something together, it is a new venture for me so I want to be sure I do it right so if you have any thoughts or ideas on what you would like I would love to learn more from you. Ones I am thinking of for mom/dad is how to photograph your children better, teen workshops, and photo shoots with teens using the studio lights (this is really more about having fun !)
Just a reminder that I will not be booking weekend sessions in July and August … I will be shooting weeknights Tuesday to Thursday .. I do have a couple session open in June if you would like to get scheduled in, we will be booking weekend sessions again beginning in September.

.. 2011 take 2 … my intention was to kick ass in 2011 … 11.. being my favorite number how couldn’t it be the perfect year, to try new things, to accomplish so many things I have wanted to, to push every possible limit, to work harder, smarter, more confident to be un-destructable .. but unfortunately 2011 has kicked my ass … February has managed to go down as my least favorite month of my entire life, and my favorite all in one, my dad was really sick and we thought we were going to lose him, making it my least favorite, and then being the stubborn farmer who needs to keep raising his family, being back to where we need him to be, at the head of the family, looking after us, my favorite part of the month … I spent the month not knowing who I was anymore, second guessing everything that I had become so happy with, I’m still not being able to make sense of everything .. all i know for sure is family is the most important thing .. and I am blessed to have certain people in my life …
.. dad has 2 doctors that i may never be able to express how much they truly mean to me .. thank you just will never seem enough .. t’il then .. captured smiles ..
.. i still remember how i felt the first time my kids went off to the fair without me … without me !!! … its always a bittersweet moment when your kids reach a certain age that includes more independence , you are really so happy to have more free time for yourself but for some reason that feeling wears off for you and never the kids ..
.. lucky for me, this past fall i got to enjoy the fair with two amazing families … i know that fellow photographers will understand when i say its so amazing to watch from the outside in, to share those family moments with them and capture the little things, it sometimes feels like your watching a movie, and just like a really great movie you want to know what happens next, a photo session can be just like that …
.. my goal was to kick butt in 2011, i have set goals and dates to accomplish them by … and so far 2011 has been kicking my butt .. i sometimes wonder if its the universe telling me not to do things, or if its the universe telling me i can be stronger with the little bumps in the road .. for now i’m going to just do it ..
